Welcome to PAO List, and Thank you for visiting my website.
What is a PAO List? PAO is an Acronym for; Person Action Object, and the “List” part is the list of all the PAO that us memorisers use when memorising a piece of data or a large chunks of information that we either want to commit to memory short or long term.
Do You Think You Have A Bad Memory? Read this and think again!
You are probably here on this website because you may be thinking that you have a bad or a terrible memory, or just want to improve your memory further. This is what I almost always hear from my friends and family and from the people I meet, “I have a terrible memory”, “I have a memory of a fish”, “I’m really bad at remembering”. This is what I also used to think as well. In fact, my memory was actually worse than a regular person who thought they had a bad memory.
It’s been said that a regular person can remember seven pieces of data and will almost always get it wrong after the seventh or the eight. So if you were to memorise a phone number which are for example made up of eleven numbers, you may be able to remember and recall the first seven or a mixed of numbers that are a total of seven or eight. With me it was even worse. I could go as far as the first three and that was me stuck and my mind would just not recall the rest of the numbers, I had to always look at the numbers a few times and write it down two digits at a time. It used to take me about three months of rote memorisation, repeating the number over and over to memorise my own mobile number!
My memory was that bad I could not even remember where I put my keys, glasses, where I parked my car, or even worst, I couldn’t remember if I locked my car doors or not. Many of the times I had to walk back to the car to double check that I did lock my car doors. When I leave home for work in the morning I often used to drive back home after two minutes to check if I did lock my house door!
I never used to be able to remember birthdays, passwords, pin numbers, to do list, and everything else in between. But not being able to remember the names of the people I meet was my worst of all. It’s been said that a person’s name is the sweetest sound they can hear. It is the most embarrassing moment where you can recall the face of the person but not the name of the person, especially when they remembered your name!
Since this was an issue and it was affecting my daily life activities in an unproductive fashion, I decided to do something about this. I wanted to know if there was something I could do to improve my memory. Just like you may be doing now.
I initially studied everything I can about memory methods, systems and techniques, bought books, listened to audio programs, watched videos, completed and got certified from countless amount of courses, joined forums, joined Facebook groups and made huge amount of notes about what I had learned over the years since I was so serious to have a better memory.
I then started practicing the methods at least one hour a day, and finally the magic happened. I was able to memorise my own phone number within a few seconds for the first time! Not only that, I was able to memorise and recall between 40 to 50 digits within a single minute. Lately, as of June 2020, I have also managed to memorise 70 digits in a minute and set myself a new goal to memorise 80 digits in a single minute.
Not only I could do this with numbers, I was able to memorise binary digits, remember the order of thirty images within sixty seconds, and a full deck of playing cards within three minutes!
I could remember where my keys were, where I parked my car, remember that I locked my doors, my appointments, important birthdays, and everything else in between. I even memorised the key points of my favourite book which is 300 pages!
What seemed absolutely impossible to me a few years ago is now a second nature to me. What you will achieve with your memory may seem impossible to you now, but when you start practicing the systems and methods in this beautiful art of memorising, you will be astonished to see that it was always possible and that you always had a good memory. If I could do this, I’m more than sure you can!
