PAO: Person Action Object.
PAO List is a memory system which provides the memory user with either a Three, Four or a Six digit image or an animated scene that can be memorised, and recall in an instant or at a later time.
To understand PAO you first should understand PA, a Person Action System.
PA: Person Action.
As the title suggest, it is made of a Person you choose, and an action assigned to that person you choose.
We use PA for creating a Paired-Link between a Person, and the actions that belongs to that person.
For example;
Let’s say your number digit for “01” was the person as “Superman”, and your assigned Action as “Flying”.
The paired-link here would be read as “Superman is Flying”.
Let’s now say your number digit for “02” was the person as “Batman”, and your assigned Action as “Punching”.
The paired-link here would be read as “Batman is Punching”.
The method for PA
Now that we have 01, and 02 with persons and their action, let’s see how we memorise those digits using the method of PA.
You would use the Person first to represent the first two digits, and you would use the action of the second person to represent the second two digits as follows.
0102
Superman is Punching.
You would of course picture this scene on your Recall Location in your memory palace, and you’ll have those digits memorised to be recalled at a later time, and or a date.
Memorising Cards With PA
PA is not only used to memorise number digit only. It can be used to memorise images, and playing cards which is a very popular practice by many of the memory improvement enthusiasts.
Remember your 01 was Superman, 02 was Batman? Now all you have to do is to assign Superman, and Batman to a playing card.
Let’s say your Superman is the Jack Of Hearts, and your Batman is the Jack Of Spades.
Jack Of Hearts + Jack Of Spades
Superman is Punching
It’s the same image you’d picture mentally at the location in your memory palace.
You can then of course repeat this process to memorise the whole deck!
Memorising Binary with PA
It’s the same procedure as the number memorising. The difference in Binary digits is that you’d have to assign the Persons and Actions, not only to the number digits, you’d also assign it to Binary digits. Most people use the existing persons and actions for the binary digits as well. I would recommend you do you same.
Converting Binary Digits To Decimals.
000 = 0
001 = 1
010 = 2
011 = 3
100 = 4
101 = 5
110 = 6
111 = 7
Notice the binary digits are from 0-7?
This gives 64 combinations of 2 digit decimal numbers.
For example;
00: 000 000
01: 000 001
02: 000 010
and so on.. until
77: 111 111
You’d only need 64 of your existing persons, existing actions, and existing objects. And you already have a binary system!
Download the shaper system spreadsheet for the binary digits, edit it, make it your own.
Now let’s move on and see an example;
If you are picturing “Superman is Punching”, you already know that it represents the digits; 01 02
Now let’s see what 00 and 01 is in Binary digits.
000: 0
000: 0
000: 0
001: 1
000 000 000 001 = 00 01 decimal digits.
So when you picture Superman is Punching, you are also memorising the Binary Digits of;
000 000 000 001 which gives you 12 Binary Digits to memorise in a single PA!
How to set up a 00-99 PA for Numbers, Binary, and Playing Cards
Create A Spreadsheet as follows.
This is an example only. Change with your own!
Or Download the Shaper System Full Spreadsheet.
Number | Binary | Card| Person | Action | Emotion | Object
00 | 000 000 | Jack Of Clubs | Spiderman| Webbing | Energetic | Cobweb
01 | 000 001 | Jack Of Hearts | Superman | Flying | Happy | Cape
02 | 000 010 | Jack Of Spades| Batman | Punching | Angry | Fist-Glove
and so on until
99..
*Write all of your 100 persons that covers all the digits from 00-99, binary digits, and the 52 cards.
*Practice by imagining each person, and what each person does with their object.
*Practice PA by Pair-Linking, Person, and the second person’s action.
You will then develop your PAO to an expert level the more you practice PA, and use if and when you have the need for it either instantly, short, or long term.
How to set up a 00-99 PAO for Numbers, Binary, and Playing Cards
It’s the same as PA, and now you are going to include the “Object”.
Have a look at the Spreadsheet again and notice that you already have the “Object”.
Now all you have to is to follow the same method for PA, but this time as
PAO.Number | Binary | Card| Person | Action | Emotion | Object
00 | 000 000 | Jack Of Clubs | Spiderman| Webbing | Energetic | Cobweb
01 | 000 001 | Jack Of Hearts | Superman | Flying | Happy | Cape
02 | 000 010 | Jack Of Spades| Batman | Punching | Angry | Fist-Glove
03 |
and so on until
99.
*Write all of your 100 persons that covers all the digits from 00-99, binary, and the 52 cards.
*Practice by imagining each person, and what each person does with their object.
*Practice PA by Pair-Linking, Person, and the second person’s action.
*Practice PAO by first the Person, second’s person’s Action, and the third person’s Object.
A total of 100 Persons, 100 actions, 100 Objects, and you’ll have a PAO system for life!
Let’s now give a quick example of 6 Digit PAO Method using the Two Digit System.
00 01 02 = Six digits to memorise.
00: Spiderman
01: Superman
02: Batman
When we see 00 01 02, we can now imagine Spiderman is Flying with a Fist Glove.
* Here we have used “00” as “Spiderman” as the “First Person”.
* The Action of “Flying” is borrowed from the Second Person.
* And the Object “Fist Glove” is borrowed from the third person.
“Spiderman Is Flying With A Fist Glove”.
A nice 6 Digit PAO Method using two digit system.
Choosing Your Persons
Who can those people be?
Superheros | Friends | Family | Neighbours | Doctors | Teachers | Shopkeepers | Bank Workers | Footballers | Movie Stars | Music Idols | Rich People | Politicians | Presidents | Skilled Workers | Kings & Queens | Other..
Each person is different. Each have different jobs. Each have their own hairstyle, eyebrows and eyes, nose, chin and other facial muscles. Also, each person has their own distinguishing clothing style, shirts, jumpers, trousers, skirts, dresses, shoes and other accessories. So it’s always easy to separate one person from the other. You just need to really get to know that person and have at least one single image of him or her standing so you know that person well to be able imagine in your mind’s eye.
